You probably either didn't take care of yourself and/or have bad genetics. I casually know quite some ladies in their 40s that still pass in their 30s or even (mid to late) 20s. Although maybe you having kids and/or being divorced probably accelerated your aging process due to physical and mental stress.
Before my mom gave birth to me and my sister, she looked like (according to others) a middle school student despite being old enough to be teaching college students. Now though, she looks closer to her actual age of mid 50s albeit looking a decade as opposed to 2 decades younger lol.
My dad always looked older than his age; in his 40s when I was a toddler, he was asked one time if he was my grandpa. Basically implying that he looks 20 years older than his actual age. When he was in his 20s, he looked as old as someone now in their 40s; meanwhile I'm in my late 20s and pass as someone in their late teens.
