Had a moment tonight where instead of letting my mind drift to an unknown future that usually triggers my anxiety, I stayed present.
On my knees cleaning I overheard my coworkers laughing and taking jabs at each other, and there was just something about that moment that made me hold onto it…to fully be present in it and soak it in. The amount of bliss it gave me was immeasurable.
We only have two more weekends before we close for the season and given the few numbers we’ve had this year, it’s made the few of us that stuck it out even more closer and appreciative of each other simply showing up. This hasn’t been an easy year for any of us. And while I’m ready for the break winter will bring, I’m going to miss these people who’ve conquered the season with me. …I love them. Each and every one of them. That’s not something that comes about often for me.
Tonight there was enough of a lull within the step back to the steady summer like bedlam that I was able to step outside to notice an orange hue illuminating the sky. I walked back in, grabbed my phone, and told my four coworkers I needed to walk down to the water. One by one they decided they needed to as well. They didn’t know why it was a thing, they just knew they needed to be a part of it. So we walked…some of us skipped…to the water’s edge and just awed at the beauty she was holding for us.
From this moment on, this capture will be incredibly special to me because I’ll remember it as one of the countless times we’ve all been together just taking in what’s in front of us, but this time calm and beauty met us instead of the loud chaos we somehow kept pushing through. This felt like our reward for hanging in there…for relying on each other to make the entire engine run properly. And as we started the season together we’ll end it the same way. Can’t think of a better group of people to accomplish it with.
