I Like to Take Pictures

I may be unwarrantedly proud of this one.
I probably also have a problem. standing barefoot in the rain, throwing a thousand shots with this kinda crap going on to get a shot (through a 10mm lens, so that was ... sorta close)

I got these two recently
@kodiac are you doing long exposure or spray and pray? I met a guy in the mountains who had super dark plates he'd keep in front of his lens and leave them on a tripod for like... I dunno... upwards of hours.
that seemed like cheating.
@kodiac I like the cloud action in the upper one.
@kodiac wow thats beautiful

@stound Tbh i'm a real novice ,my camera has a setting for when things are in motion like running ,i accidentally set it to that pointed it and clicked with no light available it would't trigger ,then the lightening flashed and i was still holding the button down and bam the camera fired off . So if it's storming i just point where the most lightening is and hold the button down ,i guess it's light activated?
@kodiac huh. I dunno. what kinda camera? and were you using a tripod or just hand held?
kodiac · 22-25, M
@stound You can actually see the electricity from the clouds colliding.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@stound It's a cannon t3 rebel and i held it lol my arm got tired relly quick ,the lightning has to be bright or it won't trigger smaller flashes it doesn't shoot ,but the big ones it grabs the shot faster than i ever could
@kodiac it sounds almost like a motion activation setting to use for a camera trap, I've never used a cannon, so I don't know much about them.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@stound Me either lol i'm going to utube it and see if someone knows. But it is light activated i know that much in that setting without light it won't take a pic .
@kodiac it looks like it might just be sports mode, does it perhaps fire multiples? and the first one isn't so great? it's interesting.. you're getting results, whatever the settings are supposed to be for.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@stound Yes it is sports mode but it only takes one shot, in daylight it is multiples.
@kodiac very curious.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@stoundIt was a lucky accident because i don't think my old hot and miss style would have ever got shots like this .
@kodiac all of mine tonight are spray and pray. probably the more right way is to put them on a tripod and use a longer shutter, but I was lazy.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@stound That's all greek to me lol the cannon camera can make even a total novice look good i guess .
@kodiac it's just a learning curve.. but I'll spare you a late night lecture on stuff I'm not all that good at myself.

@stound It's a fun hobby and i love when people share pics here .
