How can you say it's sunrise or sunset?
scorpiolovedeep · 46-50, M
Because I have been here for the past 30 mins …I arrived 10 mins prior to sunrise

Current time is 5:16 am
Brisbane , Australia

Check my photos on
‘ I love photography’ for sunrise photos

@scorpiolovedeep That's ok in this case. But can you tell just by looking at the image if it's sunrise or sunset?

I am not an expert in that but I have been told by a friend that there are number of factors :

1. Fog / mist
2. Cloud cover
3. Haze

Light direction , colours could also play a part I am assuming ( colour photos )

I just take random clicks from nature to people / moments @ABCDEF7

@scorpiolovedeep I guess cloud cover and haze can be in both sunset and sunrise. Colors can be confusing , they changes every minute, and the color you can see in both timings, do you have an specific color that is seen only during morning or evening? I don't think so.

Light directions will always be the same, straight from sun to your camera lens.

Fog/mist seems to be a real hint, but can we notice and observe that in a pic? Do you have any idea?

You look for fog / mist on leaves or on objects / surfaces (sign of a morning )

From my experience and my photos , sunset colours are more pinkish , orangish in nature.

Sunrise tend to have more yellowish , reddish colours.

Thanks @scorpiolovedeep, I usually see photographers don't cover leaves/other objects in detail while covering a sunrise or sunset.

I will try to notice and distinguish the colors as hinted by you.
Thanks 🙂
