It was Marathon, to be precise. Stayed one night more there than I had planned.

@Cervincio I see...I meant that flower is Texas´ symbol...am I wrong?
Cervincio · 61-69, M
@Velvety The song is written in the first person from the perspective of an African-American singer who refers to himself as a "darkey," longing to return to "a yellow girl," a term used to describe a light-skinned bi-racial woman born of African-American and white progenitors.

Copied from Wikipedia for a little history.

@Cervincio I never heard of that...here, we say Texas flower is the Yellow Rose, that´s all.
Cervincio · 61-69, M
@Velvety The Yellow Rose of Texas is the state song. Bluebonnet is the state flower. A bit of trivia for you today. 😁

@Cervincio I see...I wonder why the song talks of a flower...which is not representing the state...🤔
Cervincio · 61-69, M
Ah but that is the misperception that most get from the song. It's about a "yellow girl" that he refers to as his "rose". The "flower" of his eyes. Not an actual rose flower.

@Cervincio Ahhh...got it now! Thanks.
