Epsom salt under microscope

Epsom Salt, sold as Bath Salt is dissolved in water. Then dried quickly by gentle heating to create tiny crystals.
This is then observed under the microscope using polarized light. The Birefringenct property of epsom salt causes polarized light to scatter when passing through these crystals and creates these colours.

Looks like a very interesting abstract painting.
