I Love Photography
This bit of writing from 5 years ago popped up on my Facebook memories today. It reminds me to just enjoy the fleeting beauty and not try to fit it into some experience frame.
When I got up this morning the first thing I did was take the dog out. The sun was already rising since it was nearly 6 AM. The eastern horizon was mostly clear so the sun was shining through. Overhead and the western horizon were clogged with dark, heavy clouds. All of the colors were just popping. As I stood there waiting for the dog to find the perfect spot, I looked back at the pond. There was no breeze and the water was like a mirror reflecting everything surrounding the pond.
Upon the surface the geese and their goslings were gliding along, seeming to be almost motionless but yet moving. I thought, I wish I had the camera.
Just then a deer walked into the yard at the edge of the pond. He stopped and looked at the dog and I for about thirty seconds and then continued on his way.
As I think about it know I am glad that I did not have the camera. I would have been concentrating on framing the shot and getting the right focus. As it turned out I was able to absorb the beauty of the moment.
A great start to the day.
