Does anyone else treat their pets like their babies/family?

My boyfriend and I have a cat and he is our FurryBaby. We love him with all our heart and would do anything to make sure he is happy and safe. My maternal emotions are so strong with our cat. I was just wondering if anyone else feels this strongly about their pets too? I hope some people do, haha!

Sort of, yes. I adore and pamper and nurture my animals very much.
But I never forget they are still an animal, not human. I draw the line at letting them sleep with me or letting them lick my face or dressing them in human type clothes.

@Magenta: I agree with the human clothing. Although my boyfriend and I do let the cat sleep in our bed. But the cat has never licked our face haha.

Cute. Well, my cat does jump on my bed at times too. ;-)

Indeed, the face licking is so ew to me. 🤢

Cats are about the size of an infant, they meow like a baby cries, and they relate to their human friends as if they were the cat's mother. (Dogs relate to their human friend as if the human were the pack's alpha dog). Maternal feelings are natural with cats.

@greenmountaingal: This cannot be more true haha! My cat always kneads me and according to the internet that's the cat relating to trying to knead milk from it's mother or something? Also, I watched a documentary that spoke about the baby cries as well. They're so interesting right?

Although I love dogs too and hope my boyfriend and I are able to get one soon. We've been talking about bringing a dog into the family for a long while.

I think this is common for people without kids. As long as it's not an excuse on mother's day or father's day, you're good.
Shayla · F
@MysticMermaid456: I used to do that. They had Halloween and Christmas outfits too.
MysticMermaid456 · 26-30, F
My sister dresses her dog for Halloween, but only for like an hour or so lol.
Shayla · F
@MysticMermaid456: Yeah, they don't stay on very long. The dresses for the cats worked best.

I understand it but never really did because I grew up on a farm so they weren't companion animals. I like them and want them to be happy though.
MysticMermaid456 · 26-30, F
@Flenflyys: It must have been fun being a kid on a farm with all the animals. That's really cool.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
Yea it was. I think I have that same awe feeling for people from the big cities actually lo

Yeah pretty much with my cat. He is not well and has always been affectionate so I try to help him as much as I can, when I can as I'm not well either
MysticMermaid456 · 26-30, F
@amethyst1: I hope you and your cat are alright, I'm so sorry to hear that you're both not feeling too great.
My Heidi is definitely part of the family. I won't say she is quite as dear to me as my children, but she's pretty damn important.
MysticMermaid456 · 26-30, F
@ProdigalSummer: That's understandable. I'm very broody so I guess I substitute not having any children of my own with having pets right now. I can't wait to have children.
My pug is my baby, best friend, protector
@MysticMermaid456: get one, they are great with cats :D
MysticMermaid456 · 26-30, F
Thank you! I hope we can get one soon haha.
@MysticMermaid456: Search the net for pug rescues🐶

@crossproduct: It's a profound experience isn't it? Haha.

one day your cat is going to get flattened by a car
MysticMermaid456 · 26-30, F
@TheCoolestCat: My cat is an indoor cat so that would be difficult lol. But thanks for participating in the comments.
