Anyone have any skunks in their area?

I'm just curious because they are all over where I live... I don't know if it is just where I live or if there are any other people living by them...

@Starshine: I'm one of the many... but I am not SUPER into it... I just enjoy it. But I don't go crazy unlike the others...
@Tanner07: ok.. Just so you know skunks carry distemper and dogs get it and usually die.

@Starshine: As long as precautionary measures are taken to not get cut or bitten then you should be fine

@Starshine: oh I fully know about that but that only happens when it gets in sir blood stream it eats the blood cells that's how they die
@Tanner07: we had several cases of distemper last summer and the vet says it is airborne and even a dog sniffing the urine will get it. MY brother had to put his down.

@Starshine: btw it isn't skunk urine, those two are different.

@Starshine: and it's incredibly rare for a dog to die because of a skunk spray
@Tanner07: im just saying take good care of your dogs if they go with you :-)

@Starshine: It's certainly not airbourne. I've heard of NO cases of anyone dying from just smelling skunk stink. It's harmless for the most part. Just don't go crazy trying to consume it. Being hit should be only an unpleasant experience unless you're someone like me

@Starshine: yah next time I won't let my dog do it the dog didn't really like it (obviously). But yah
@lifty4ever: this is what our vet told us when he had to put the dog down. It was our first cases around here in 50 years. I think a vet would know

@Starshine: well the vet isn't a skunk expert. It isn't airborne or so many more dogs would die. I think at dog got hit in the face and digested the spray. I say the vet is wrong
