Today a large street dog wanted to fight Koda lol

They are normally too scared to try anything but this one walked up really close barking and would totally have fought Koda if I had stopped. It's still a street dog so it would probably run if I kick it, but very brave though. I think it's because he was protecting the bus stop territory, it's great for them because they get so many treats there, but it's rare to see. He was bigger than a German Shepherd and light yellow with short hair, very good looking actually.

I'm glad nothing happened. I'm very scared of that same reason, so many strays here and I have to avoid streets with them. Some of them would definitely fight the dogs, be careful please. I was considering bear pepper spray but I also think it's a bit cruel. I bring a big stick and usually they are afraid if they see a stick

@greensnacks In Denmark where I grew up we don't have stray dogs, and the risk of getting infected with rabies is incredibly low, so I guess we just don't bother with that. I never heard of anyone being worried about rabies there, here it's definitely more common. I don't think think it's that big of a worry, but since I walk in the fields everyday too, I feel like it wouldn't hurt to be protected. Did you have a shot as a child?
@Nightwings Makes sense.
Yeah we do get the shots as kids. We don't have rabies reported since the 70s but kids get it bc there are just many strays unfortunately. At least I think that's the reason.

I've been bitten by dogs, (my dogs) cats, a parrot scratched countless times even from strays both dogs and cats and no rabies so far, 😅🤞🏼

(I assume it's the same there, strays but probably rabies not rampant)

@greensnacks Oh my, I am glad nothing too bad happened to you. 😅 I got bit by own dog too lol. I accidentally spooked him when he was sleeping, hovering over him to give him belly scratches in the dark because I thought he was awake. 😆 We do get cases of rabies in Ukraine, which have increased since the full-scale invasion because of migrating animals (and probably also sadly a lot of pets let behind) + I assume it's more difficult now to vaccinate strays, as money are better spent on other things. Vaccinated strays get tags in their ears.
