Should Obama be criticised from the left?

There is a controversial idea that Obama paved the way for Trump with his handling of the banking crisis and his unwillingness (rather than just inability) to deliver radical change.

He did some good things and was blocked by Republican Congress on healthcare and other things but he has also had some very un-progressive policies. I'm interested to know what people think of this article:

Yeah, absolutely. I think Obama seems like a pretty amazing guy personally, but as a President he lived to betray everything 2007 Obama believed in. Keeping up the 'third way' politics of the Clintons before him exacerbated the economic conditions that lead to Trump's election. The racial divide is more complicated and due to a lot of factors. The poor economy, a sense of alienation and broken hegemony in the working classes, and the militarization of police and mass incarcerations. All of this kind of work together to create he madness we have today.

But the big thing is economically, Obama was in the same wheelhouse as every President has been since Reagan. Inequality continued to grow under him and he dumped the treasury into the pockets of his biggest campaign donors within his first year in office.
