Depends on the cat. Stormy is fine with letting me pick her up, Rain freaks out and tries to jump away, Snow just purrs and falls asleep or licks himself while being held, Luna goes Meow, and grabs at the walls if you're taking her somewhere she doesn't want to go, Amber is happy for the attention, and Sugar doesn't like being held much.

I enjoyed reading your response, Teirdalin, displaying the individual personality traits of cats. We have three mousers in our family...all with different and interesting personalities. Tiger, adopted as a feral kitten when around six weeks old, claims me for himself. He is the most ferocious and territorial of our small cat pride but to everyone's surprise he is also the most affectionate! He almost never protests when I pick him up unless the vibe is "it's time for a bath" which he never fails to read. His best buddies are two retired war dogs whom the other cats keep their distance. But Tiger? That good ol' boy plays chase with them and naps with them. Many is the time our two Marine mutts are sitting patiently on the porch tails whapping away at the floorboards, issuing a yelp now and then...tellin' Tiger it's time to come out and play. It's a hoot to see.

@annie616pop:
Aww, they all sound like awesome kitties. :D I love cats, they're such cool animals and so nice if given proper attention growing up.

We lost Sugar's mom and grandma when we were moving from California to Oregon because we had a squatter living on our property who refused to leave, and so we had to stay at my aunts basement, and she hated pets. Sugar's great grandma also had to be put down as well. Sugar's mom went missing when we brought her to the property and couldn't find her when we discovered the squatter didn't leave, and the grandma essentially got stolen by some people who really wanted a Siamese cat.

It really sucked, and I blame it all on the squatter who as on our property that it took like a year to evict because the system sucks.

Now that the squatter is gone I hope that you and your family (including cats) are enjoying the home. Following the crash in 2006 there were many foreclosed homes in the suburbs. After a couple of years of non-occupation, 'squatters' soon took advantage the circumstance. Evictions were frequently much more swift than your circumstance because these squatters were not paying utility bills and took to ingenious methods of pirating electricity and water. Gettin' the utility companies all riled up got faster results then what happened to families like yours. Inside of 30 days police wagons rolled up and people were carted away in handcuffs.
I am taking over the world soon.
