What to use for cat urin smell?

I’ve gone through the house once with bleach. Anything else I should do? He’s getting fixed right now and I want him coming home free of that scent

I was in a relationship with a woman that had a cat and had the same problem. Because she had carpets, we steam cleaned them all, then would use Nature's Miracle Cat Advanced Stain & Odor Removers For Cat every time it happened again. There are some powdered things you can get to sprinkle in and then vacuum up as well. But it is difficult to get rid of the smell even using bleach because of an enzyme in their urine that lingers forever it feels like. Hope this helps.

[@honestly I did half and half with the bleach cause I’m freaking tired of it and have brand new furniture lol

@Soramarie Might not want to do half and half with the vinegar, that has it's own powerful aroma. lol One I'm not crazy about if too strong, but that's me.

oh I HATE the smell of it but it’s better than him spraying later lol
A product called natures miracle. Breaks down what causes the scent to return. It’s fabulous!!!
I’ve used many many times over the years and it does what it says it will do

Get him take a bath. Spray lemon water with baking soda mixture on the area.

great idea he’s at the vet being fixed rn so it’ll be a while before he can bathe

@Sepia I went crazy with the bleach but I want it out lol

@Soramarie Bleach is too harsh on nose and might discolor your stuff too.

Vinegar and water and keeping the windows open should work over time.
Bathing the cat is a moot point. 🙄

[@he won’t be able to anyways because he will have stitches or glue

Vinegar and water will neutralize the smell.

Follow-up with a baking soda-based air freshener. Sodium bicarbonate, the substance baking soda is comprised of, is great at absorbing odors. One way to put it to use against urine odor is to sprinkle it on the carpet or furniture after you've cleaned your cat's urine and the area has thoroughly dried.

Regardless of what people say the only true answer is nothing. Nothing gets the smell out,it lingers for years. Anyone who has had to try and rehab a "cat lady" house knows this.
