Spider season is upon us...

(No "kill it with fire" bullshit, please. Take your ignorance elsewhere, or open your mind just a bit.)

This is a male Neoscona crucifera that lives on my front porch. He's a total sweetheart. These spiders (and other orb weavers) typically emerge in late summer and early fall when the temperatures cool off and the larger carnivorous insects are mostly gone and hibernating. This is also the time they're looking for a mate. They're very docile and tend to run at the first sign of danger, or vigorously shake their webs to try and scare you off. Spiders and arachnids in general are an extremely diverse group of arthropods, but these guys are my favorites. They remind me of fall, and they're natural Halloween decorations.🕷️🖤

I’m terrified of them. Not the writing spiders. I guess Charlotte’s Web made them ok in my messed up head. I’m ok with those. Maybe also because they usually just pick a spot and stay there. If I know they won’t touch me, I’m ok.....otherwise I freak out

@BigAssLeech I’m glad you’re doing so well! You know I adore you! I was not so good for a while, but I think I’m doing better now. Thankfully. I have missed your awesomeness!
