Why are all the dog's in my area howling together?

It's scary, it feels like they're crying loudly and it's 2.30 am here in my place, dark and the rains have just stopped..

Maybe cause its a lonely time of night and dogs are really social creatures and need excuses to do their simple doggy thing like saying I'm HERE!

@Platoscave If I'm right that's sad. The only reason a domestic dog is out at night is cause he's probably chained out in the yard or fenced out there. I hate those practices.
