We have to put my cat to sleep on Monday. How to stop crying?

We’ve had her since I was seven. I’m twenty one now. She was one of the cats I grew up with, and she holds memories for me of my childhood friends. She was given to us by my terminally ill aunt, and I really don’t want to let my cat go. I feel like she’s the last tangible piece I’ll have of my aunt when her time comes. I can’t stop crying. Any advice?

Oh, so sorry. Share stories about your aunt and your cat. Think of all the love and joy. Cry until you cannot do it anymore. Give it time to wash itself out. Then one day, it will feel better. You will move on. Then maybe go look for a new kitty, and fall in love again. Name it after your aunt, maybe?

I'm no doctor.😑 But I think you should cry as long as you feel like you need to. There is no way to prepare for losing a pet you love like that. Spend time with her, maybe take pictures. But don't kick yourself for feeling unprepared. I am very sorry for your loss. I hope your cat gets to go to heaven and wait there for you with your aunt❤ overtime oh, the memories will outweigh the sadness of this last part, so hang in there.

I am so sorry to hear this. I am pretty sure she had a great and wonderful life living with you and your family. I wish you healing in your time of grief. I know how it feels to lose a cat. It hurt and your baby will forever be a apart of you. ❤️

You have my sincere condolences, but don’t worry, they’ll be waiting for you at the clearing at the end of the path
