Is my kitty okay?

My cat is thirteen, almost fourteen. She has had a lump on her neck for a while now, but she hadn’t shown any symptoms of it bothering her until recently, so we let it be. Lately, she’s been keeping to herself more than usual (she really only likes my mom, anyway) losing weight, and her fur seems like it’s not as smooth as usual. Today, I found her upstairs sleeping on a bag. She kind of groaned a little bit, but she started purring and letting me pet her. She even let me carry her downstairs (she never lets ANYONE carry her, not even my mom) her breathing seems a bit labored, but otherwise she’s seems to be okay. She walks a little slow, but she’s still eating. She won’t play with our other cat very much anymore, either. Should we be preparing for the worst? (We are taking her to the vet as soon as we can to have her checked out.)

Many cats live longer than this age. Don't assume the worst. Get her to the vet and find out what is going on and what options you have. Until a doctor determines, it can be anything.

It doesn't sound good..
Weight loss is not a good sign.
It may be an abscess or tumor.
Try to keep the kitty comfortable and quiet..
Stress isn't good for her when she's sick..
Get her to the vet as soon as you can...

Keep an eye on her, make sure she's getting enough to eat and especially water to drink..
Take a stool sample with you to the vet in case they want to check for parasites or other issues.

Yes, I fear you do need to prepare for the worst for her

I am so sorry but it seems as though the vet and you should prepare for the worst.
😥

I have had a lot of cats.

I mean if it's cancer or something....

That’s what we’re worried about..😢@Platoscave

I like that! Thank you! @NiftyWhite
She's getting older, it happens. Just love you like you do that's all
:( your kitty is super sick
Yes, sadly I would say so. When my cat had cancer what you’re describing was similar, although the vet can tell you for certain, and what treatment is available. So sorry. 😞
