@TheConstantGardener the ones here look black with white specks on them unless you see them sitting in the sun, that makes them look purplish and almost metallic.

@cherokeepatti Starlings are known to cause histoplasmosis. This is a fungal disease that grows in their nesting areas. It caused my aunt to go blind.

@Funtoy4u I know, I’ve had it and it left scars inside of my eyes. It’s the fungus spores from their nests that cause it. But it can also be in chicken pens, etc. Probably pigeon nests too. I had to get an injection in my eye because one of the scars started bleeding.

@cherokeepatti Yes, I grew up in the country in central Illinois. The starlings there were the European starling. They were uglier than the one in the picture. We had a lot roosting in the eves of the barns. After my aunt went blind (she lived about 1 mile from us), we cleared out all of their nests.
