Have you ever rescued animals?

A kitten eating its first meal after having been rescued. Not my video or kitten, just cute.

When I was a kid I had a few instances of rescuing injured animals. A dove with a broken wing was the first. There were a few lizards after that. At one point a snake. Very recently a hummingbird that nearly got itself eaten by the cats because it ran into a branch and stunned itself.

I've volunteered at a shelter, but not done much rescuing (except from my cat with her prey) myself.

The utter fragility and helplessness of baby animals, especially kittens, breaks my heart.

And yes, it really does. Such sweet little babies out in the cruel world.
