Is The Ocean a Living Thing?

I know there are many living creatures, living IN the ocean. It has it own ecosystem, etc. But the ocean itself, do you ever wonder that it might be a living singularity? I mean doesn't it seem to have its own characteristics? Have you ever visited the beach and brought a bottle of seawater home? After a few hours it starts to smell, like taking it away from sea it starts to die.

That's a very interesting concept. Yes, I think the ocean, itself, is alive. What I think you smell is the micro-organisms which have died off after they've been taken out of their living, breathing habitat.
