Well....I can’t really swim, so I don’t feel comfortable going too far into the ocean.
Moosepantspatty · 31-35, M
@marsbar me either! But you can always stand in the shallows!
marsbar · F
@Moosepantspatty That’s what I do. Lol. I’m fine in the deep end of a pool as long as it’s not crowded.
Moosepantspatty · 31-35, M
@marsbar same, I just stand in the pool and relax
marsbar · F
@Moosepantspatty I know you love it. 😇

@marsbar Swimming out into the ocean isn't entirely pleasant, to be fair. One of the most cringe inducing feelings I've ever experienced is that of kelp brushing against my feet as I swim. X_X
marsbar · F
@UndeadPrivateer Lol. I remember running in a shallow lake as a kid with tons of seaweed underneath the water. It’d be gross to me now, but as a kid, it was fun.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@marsbar I don't really mind the kelp itself so much as the fact that I know that it's crawling with ocean life. Kelp forests are literally some of the most dense ecosystems on the planet with incredibly high numbers of organisms per cubic meter. So you just know there was probably something on that kelp frond you just brushed against and thousands more right nearby. :|

@UndeadPrivateer It sounds like a pool is much better suited to your state of mind Luke. 😁

@marsbar I don't mind swimming in the ocean, I just don't love the thought of sea lice, sea slugs and all manner of ocean creepy crawlies that frequent kelp forests crawling on me and sharing my space. X_X I prefer to keep to the more cleared waters.
marsbar · F
@UndeadPrivateer Rats gross me out more. Like if there was one swimming near me, I’d freak out. Lol
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@marsbar Sea lice don't bother you? They do bite, you know.

marsbar · F
@UndeadPrivateer Eeekkkk!! 😲😧I’ve never been near all sea life you’re talking about.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@marsbar They're nasty little buggers. There was a rather famous case recently in the news just a couple years back about a teenager in Australia that got attacked by a bunch of them and they bloodied his feet really badly. A bit graphic to post here but if you google 'sea lice' in google images the pictures of his feet pop right up too. (There's no chunks missing or anything, just a loooooot of lice bites and blood.)
marsbar · F
@UndeadPrivateer Oh god Luke!!! I saw it!!! 🤢🤮😵😵😵 OMFG!!! I’m not going into the ocean again! 😨😲
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@marsbar Usually you feel them bite and they're easy to brush off. It seemed to be that what happened with him was that his feet had gone numb from the cold water and he'd been standing still in the water for a while, so they just went to town on his feet while he was unaware.

Still, now you see why I'm unnerved by kelp forests. :P

@UndeadPrivateer That poor kid!

Yes, I see now. 😰😓
