Please check your vehicles for animals when it’s cold outside....

When I was out of town last week, my daughter told me that this little guy( well, big guy) was all bloody and looked like he was going to die and may have a broken leg. He came back tonight and what I observed was that he presented with labored breathing, multiple lacerations on his ears, face and nose. He is favoring his right front leg . He would not let me near him, because of the pain and his vulnerability at this point. I happened to have an acquisition station, a digital receptor and portable x-ray unit in my garage. When he finally fell asleep, I was able to set up a makeshift x-ray room , and slide the receptor under his paw. The good news is, nothing is broken. But after I woke him up, I could not examine him any further as he is pretty defensive right now. I did note, however, that he is licking his paw, so I am sure it is just a laceration that is making him limp. Another observation, is the clean cut across four of his whiskers, which leads me to believe, along with the lacerations to his face , that he was up in an engine to keep warm and someone started it up. People, please please please, with the cold temperatures, check your vehicles before you start them. And pray for this little guy. But I’m sure he’ll be fine. I got his back 😊🤙🏻.[image deleted][image deleted]
