I was going through a really tough time when one day this cat just started to show up at my door. I'm a lover of all animals and my dog had not long passed away so I decided to start feeding this cat and slowly let it into my home. It wasn't the most friendly of cats but we both began to trust each other and every night it would sleep at the end of my bed. It stayed for about seven month's then one weekend I'd stayed at a friend's and when I came home to my family they hadn't seen the cat and it hasn't been back since. It left when I was finally over all my trouble's. Does anybody else think that this could be more than just a coincidence?

curious to ask, how does one know if an animal is a totem spirit for them?

There are different types of animal totems. Some that come into our lives for a short time ( message bringers, teachers, protector) Those that stay with us through out our life or major periods( power animals). You will know if it is your spirit/power animal. As it will always be around you. It will pop up every where. In your dreams, tv/movies/pictures, you will have encounters with it, you feel drawn to it. Sometimes its your favorite animal. Not always though sometimes after you bond with it then it becomes your favorite. Once you read about the animal and its message,teaching and guidance. You will understand why it is yours. I am blessed to know there guidance. I wish you the same blessing.

Spirit animals are energies that you connect with. They are a part of you and you are a part of them. Your personality, emotions, what you are going through can be seen in the animal that shows up. You may connect with a lion because you need strength an courage in your life. Or the negative side maybe its saying you are being lazy not moving.

Only you can know as we all interpret things differently. Like the lion, for one the lion gives strength. For the other he teaches something else. You will also have to read/learn about specific hurt animal. But you might interpret a hurt animal as something that is lost in you, or a part you need to let go of. Only you will know there message to you..
