go to a shelter lol... i got two of my dogs from there

I have owned both purebreds and mutts throughout my life and there is no doubt in my mind you will get far more dog for your money at a shelter. My current best friend Chloe spent nearly all of the first four months of her life in a shelter and while I loved all my dogs, she is, by a long chalk, the best dog who ever owned me.

A purebred pup (which may have far more health problems and therefore high vet bills) can cost from $500-$3000 (and up).
A puppy from a shelter will come to you neutered with puppy vaccinations anywhere from $0 adoption fee to $350, depending on your location.

Go see a few Veterinarians. They might put you in touch with folk whos dogs are having litters they can't afford to keep.

@Picklebobble2 A little dog just picked this up for you. You dropped it.

check out the closest animal shelter. Might not find a pedigreed dog there but you'll find one who loves and needs love.

Buying a dog mostly goes to funding puppy mills. There are good breeders out there, but that will cost you. Shelters are your best bet.
Go to a shelter and adopt one.

Its often a bad idea to buy a dog from people who just breed there dogs for money because they often get over bred and die younger sometimes you gotta pay a bit more from a legit breeder ive made this mistake before and it cost us a dogs life

Rescue dogs or puppies are often cheaper. Some fsrmers have puppies and advertise to find them good homes. Look to local websites. Ask around. People can use word of mouth to find homes for people they know who have puppies.
50$ at the animal shelter or if you find a stray or people trying to give them away you can have one or more for free

You can also look to breed rescue groups for puppies or adult dogs of a particular breed, if you want a specific dog. You may pay a couple of hundred for the rescue, to offset costs of the organization, but you can still find a specific breed, such as for hypoallergenic properties or temperament, from a knowledgeable source.
However, some of the sweetest, and healthiest, dogs I have ever seen are mixed breeds.

The shelter. Lots of wonderful pets, and often you're saving a life, too. And they seem to know.
