Water footprint. Ever hear this term?

I read an interesting article today in Canadian Geographic. Apparently, 2,000 liters of water are tainted in the production of one cheeseburger. Another interesting fact: Canada has the most fresh water per person. We have 7% of the world's supply and only represent .5% of the population. Much of our water is being lost to the world through shipments of grain and meat, and the Canadian government is interested in lessening loss.

Screw all that, no one cares... but I wanna know how 2000 liters of water is tainted for a cheeseburger?

@SW-User so the water isn’t really tainted, since it can be recycled

@cattleboy but again, it’s not really wasted, it recycles back into nature
