Welp, I'm making a tough decision.

Three weeks ago the family cat Chloé was stolen. She returned today. She ever so casually walked out of the neighbors front door and made her way to my yard. I thought I was dreaming. I shouted her name (she's hard of hearing) and she walked up to me. Long story short she's in her room sleeping now.

But, I feel guilty. The neighbors have two young daughters and they really love Chloé. While what they did was wrong, they did take good care of her. I'm considering letting the neighbors have her. It's hard because I love Chloé, but I know they were disappointed to see she was gone when they returned from school today.

My giving Chloé to them would be seen as rewarding bad behavior, but they are kinda poor, and I saw the joy she brought to their eyes when Chloé ventured into their yard a few months ago. I think they deserve some happiness considering they don't have a lot to begin with.

What do you guys think?

There should be a balance. You shouldn't reward them for taking her, but if you're sure they'll take good care of her there shouldn't be anything wrong with letting her go over to visit and play with them once in a while. You don't need to fully give her up though.
