Anyone know about bats?

So two of the last three nights I've startled a bat that likes to hide in the corrner of my patio between the front door and garage door. I thought they hunted at night, why would it be there? Just find it kind of odd and can't seem to find any information about them taking a break and just haning out at that spot.

@Gangstress ya, it would make sence if I was starting to get them in the attic nesting or something like that, just so weird at night and in that spot that has me confused.

@OKWTF2 I know what you mean. Sone of them feel comfortable enough if no danger to stay outside. I love them. They eat all the bugs lol
