Growing old together

Me and my dawg.

Some of you may have seen a post weeks ago where I praised the set of steps I bought to get my dog from the floor to the bed. Each step is actually a cloth-covered box with a a cloth and particle board lid that forms the actual step.

They worked great, until tonight.

Tonight, when Chloe was going to the water fountain, the top folded and deposited her neatly into the box of the step, with little room for maneuvering.

Picture if you will a 75 year old woman and a dog of comparable age trying to figure out this dilemma. Because she fitted so snugly, I couldn’t get my hands around her securely enough that I wouldn’t hurt her. Each new attempt drew a grunt that stated she was not at all convinced it wasn’t going to be painful.

Finally, I pulled free the Velcro that held the other two steps attached to the one she was boxed in and just tipped it over. She crawled out of it, I reorganized all three steps and she stepped back to the bed.

She sat there, staring alternately at the steps and then at me, then decided to prove she could do it. She jumped down, did nothing else, then jumped up successfully this time.

Every day an unasked for adventure.

If I'm understanding correctly, She decided not to use the steps?
@Mindful No, she made a point of using the steps. Maybe a canine version of getting back on the horse that threw you off
