Dogs will be dogs - and one has to love their energy, curiosity, and joy in new discoveries.
But word of caution - I once had a furry friend with the same generally attitude. Unfortunately one day I answered the door and was saddened it was a driver that accidentally had run over my dog as he darted in front of a car. Not the drivers fault but they were devastated as well. The dog survived thankfully - but you can be sure the dog never was allowed out unattended again.
Just say’n

@HBguy well he isnt allowed out either. But he does escape sometimes when i am letting him in and out of the yard. I live in a gated community and he only goes a few houses away. And my neighbors are always calling to ask " is that Bandit running around?"
But yes i would be devastated if something happened to him. He is usually only gone a couple hours before he comes back waiting around to be let in the house. But thats on his terms.

Dogs NEED to run . Its in their biological makeup.
They NEED to get out and sniff the world - its highly stimulating for them. (Its like us watching tv, or going shopping, or watching sports or whatever).
Dogs arent made to stay in a yard always - not being critical, just saying.
Maybe he needs more walks, or more varied walks? You know - go somewhere different to walk him 🤷♀

@invisiblewoman He's hilarious 😂 You should let him in, then close the door while you're still outside, wait for him to turn around and see you, then take off running, lol
