Date night with my dog...

A couple of nights ago I said to my dog Bruno.
"right tonight is date night and it's on you, where are you taking me?"

He looked at me a bit confused, thought for a bit then started walking.
He started slow but the pace increased and became very focused.

Straight to the cafe we pass every morning 😂.

He goes to the door and waits. (they give him biscuits whenever we go past).

They offered him 2 biscuits when I said we were on a date. There was me thinking he would share one with me but I was treated to watching him eat them both! 🤭

As it was closing time I asked him where to next.he took me down a cul-de-sac. He's been curious about it but I've never taken him there, he had a good ol sniff and gander.

He stood for a brief moment and started pulling me along again. "where are we headed now?"

He looked back and swiftly turned it back. Making sure to look left and right before crossing the road. Finally we come up to a park, we've not been to this one for months I'm surprised he remembers it. Off we go on a nice walk around the park.

He made a new friend with this little yorkiepoo.

The best thing was he wasn't rushing and pulling me along like he can do he was quite content.

The only thing that annoyed me was on the way back as he had walked so far he was shattered, laying on the street refusing to walk. So I did have to remind him that "he took me on the date and he should ensure I get home safe like the perfect gentleman"

Off he went walking me all the way home didn't even stop to sniff...!

❤️🤭😂

I used to let my dog lead the way for about half of every walk .

Its really important. A walk isn't just about exercise for a dog, it also about the smells and all the stimulation they get from them. Its an outting.
Its entertaining.

Its lovely you did this 🤗

@OogieBoogie I totally agree.

When we go on walks I let him stop and sniff and try not to prevent that too much not unless we come across feces or he's stopping every tree and every corner sometimes spinning back as a ploy to use that time to look back at some woman or what feels like extending time! (yes he does that!)

For me personally I've done it to indicate a level of trust.

I trust him enough to let him explore, I trust him and know the area enough to know we won't get lost.

Going forward there won't be these special 1-2-1 times as my priorities will shift slightly so it's incredibly important for our bonding...
@Mellowgirl i love that you get this ☺️
