What the heck...

I worked today and went to a client of mine to do some lawn maintenance. I saw her dogs being out and one of them was barking it's head off. Sooooo I texted her asking if her dogs are friendly before I head on in the yard.

"They just bark and are super friendly."

Mmmk...

I opened the gate, went in, and holy shhhhh---

Her biggest dog, which was a regular poodle, started making lunges or creeping up on me aggressively every time I'd try to assess the yard. Ironically, he was more scared of me than I of him...but a scared dog that's bold enough is a dangerous dog.

Fortunately, I was carrying a rake so I kept that between myself and the pup (I always carry a sharp tactical knife too, but it's last resort). I feel bad because I was only able to tackle most of the yard instead of all of it. Leaving a job unfinished isn't my style. Towards the end, that dog was cornered on the porch so I thought it best to just leave as is than push my luck. That sucker tried to rush me twice when he thought he could flank me.

Sheesh. At the end of the service though, I was sure to call my boss explaining the situation versus telling the client she set me up to look like Leonardo Decaprio in the Revenant getting mauled by the "friendly" dog.

I thought that would be the end of it, but the next house had two black labs that weren't keen on letting me do my job. Although, I lucked out with them because somehow I managed to gain their trust and even played ball with em. Hahaha!

What a sketchy day that deserves a beer. 🍻
