With time you'll get over it somewhat. It's a common experience for lots of us. You might read on or two of the many books written about owning a dog. Some have been adapted to cinema if you're not the reading type.
Something to watch or read might help put some time between you and the loss and help you put it in a less painful perspective. Dogs are a treasured gift us humans were given by our creator. Rising to the great responsibilities of mastering these issues improves life in some ways.
