Interesting idea a friend told me about.
A friend of hers had said, "When I die, bring my dog to the wake, so he can see that I'm dead rather than have him think I abandoned him."

My sister had a poodle and when she died it didn't even occur to me that I should let him see her. But after a few weeks my dad took him to her house and he ran from room to room looking for her. It was saddest thing I'd ever seen. Dad kept wanting to take him back, but I didn't let him. The poodle died a year later and it gave me great peace to know they were finally both together again.
