Interesting idea a friend told me about.

A friend of hers had said, "When I die, bring my dog to the wake, so he can see that I'm dead rather than have him think I abandoned him."

That's great. My dog will be put to sleep and buried with me, because I have no one who would take him in. And I won't let him go to a shelter to live. To me that's not humane. He's by my side 24 hours a day and wouldn't adjust well.
