A friend of hers had said, "When I die, bring my dog to the wake, so he can see that I'm dead rather than have him think I abandoned him."

@iamnikki I don't know. On the one hand, dogs can understand death. I have seen a dog react to the death of another dog.

On the other hand, our embalmed bodies will not smell like us, and they will look a bit different as well. So I wonder whether a dog would understand.
