I pointed that out in Sunday school when I was very young. Was almost stoned to death by the Southern Baptists!
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc Why? Surely they must believe dogs are one of God's creations.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette They thought I was making fun of God. Blasphemy. I wasn't but they were and are religious zealots. (I exaggerated a little about being stoned by them).
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc So what really happened?
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette They just got mad because they thought I was comparing God to a dog I guess. I was only about 7 yrs. old and didn't understand their outrageous anger. They told me I needed to pray long and hard for a long time or I was going to hell for that. These were religious fanatics. It blew over pretty quick. I didn't think it was a big deal and it wasn't.
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc But why? If any animal deserves to be worshipped like a god, it's a dog.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette You're not familiar with the radical religious fanatics. They pick out the parts of the Bible they want to believe in and ignore the rest.
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc That's not gonna prove it true (assuming that's what they want). They'll have to go through the entire Bible, not just the bits they personally like best.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette Oh no, they don't want to hear logic or truth. That's the point. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc My friend Kelly is a Christian but she's not one of those weirdos you describe.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette I'm talking about religious zealots not true Christians or those who try to be. Religion and Christianity are not the same thing. All religions are man-made and some a little too man-made. They twist and contort the teachings in the Bible to fit their own agenda. Don't you see that?
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc I don't get why they would do that. Where I come from we tell it the way it really is and if it doesn't fit our own agenda, tough shit. In other words, we place greatest emphasis on the truth.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette That's not the way it is most everywhere else. Are you not aware of this?
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc I'm not religious myself, I only know what my friend Kelly has said regarding the Christian faith. Why aren't these other people like Kelly?
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette Because they have been misled.
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc I suggest they either re-read the Bible all the way through or else forget it completely and find something else to believe.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette You are completely missing the point. They don't want to know the truth. They are happy in their little warped world. They don't want to be confronted with truth. They are effectively "brainwashed". I haven't named any religions yet. I don't care to discuss this any longer. It won't solve anything.
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc If they don't want to be confronted with truth, that's their problem, not mine.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette That's why I don't confront them. It's futile. They won't even try to listen objectivly.
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@Nitedoc Again, that's their problem, not yours or mine.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
