I swear ..... [I Dogs]

Look ik my service dog is cute but can we as adults agree that screaming "aweeeee puuuuupppy" is a little inappropriate given that he's working

We as adults agree and disagree on a lot of stupid things. It doesn’t mean much really

@SW-User do you also scream OMG her wheelchair is pink, ma'am can I touch it"? It's one thing to walk up and tell me you think he's cute. The above is childish and distracting
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 a wheelchair is never actually cute. That’s the difference
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User a wheelchair is medical equipment and so is my dog..... He saves my life daily. If you want to talk to us we are people come talk. Just don't try to distract the dog 🤷🤦
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 yeah…people are horrible
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User if you really believe that then don't encourage that type of behavior
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 petting dogs? C’mon. It can’t really cause that giant of a distraction.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User actually petting a service dog can cause it to miss an alert to the handler and they can literally die. For example mine works for my heart condition and my hypoglycemia.... If he misses telling me something is going on.... I'm being hospitalized, or worse.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User if you were trying to work on an important paper and people kept walking in your room and touching you ...... Tell me you wouldn't be distracted
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 your dog tells you something that happens within your body?
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 so going into walmart with a service dog is like working on an important paper?
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User yep. These dogs are trained to use smell to detect changes within our bodies. Some dogs can tell when a handler will have a seizure before so meds can stop it from ever coming, some like mine detect the glucose in your body, or when your bp is too high. Just like police dogs smell drugs .
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User the dog has an important job. If you want me to compare it at a better level..... If your a nurse working and people keep cutting you off and touching you distracting you from call buttons and alarms ..... Bad things happen
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 I don’t know..I think people walking up to a service dog should be taken into consideration because it will happen a lot. Your dog can detect levels of glucose in your system? Damn.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User glucose and blood pressure changes. It's taken into consideration bit these are animals not robots .... Just like the nurse and person working on a paper they can be distracted with enough pressure. ... We just ask that people don't. Personally if someone acts appropriately and I feel well and it's not a place where a herd will come up and pet him I'll allow it..... But screaming puppy and petting without asking and throwing a fit when a handler says no and bringing pets where they aren't legally allowed....... All of those things put us at risk
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 well, robots will replace service dogs soon enough. I personally like dogs better but if it’s really that big of a problem,i guess that’s the solution
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User that doesn't work for everyone and every condition. So sadly that won't happen. People just need to learn boundaries....
