I Feel Like A Puppet On Strings

Puppet to my desires.
That’s who you are.
You that I call friend.
For if my desires you contradict.
I won’t compromise unless there is some sort of benefit for me.
Whether it is social status, popularity, and acceptance.
Or money, security, and shelter.
There has to be a motive behind staying with you even in the midst of contradiction.
For if there was nothing in it for me, I would walk away, just as anybody else walks away from those who are not in it for them.
Puppet to my desires.
