I Like Dogs

I have always liked dogs except in my case I love them. Since I was a boy I can't remember not having one. Most of them were German Shepherds. Until about two years ago when my last Shepherd passed away. A friend told me about a woman that had some Shih Poo puppies for sale. I had never heard of them. They're part Shih- Tzu and part poodle. She came by and showed me what she had. Before she came I talked with her on the phone and told her I wanted a female. She was showing me the females that she had, but they looked too much like a poodle. She had them in a carrier type thing and I saw something move in the very back. Asking what it was she said that one is a male and he's very shy and that most likely I wouldn't want it. When I inquired about it she dug him out, I swear it was love at first site. Without hesitation I said I'll take him. She said that he would be more because he looked more like a Shih- Tzu. I don't care I'll take him and I did. He was nothing but a ball of fur, or hair is what they have. It seemed as if there was an instant bond between us. It was the first time I had ever let a dog sleep in my bed. The woman had told me that he would sleep in a crate or with me. I had fixed his bed in his crate with small blankets and some toys I had bought for him. Every thing was going fine until I went to put him in his bed. He didn't whimper or cry but the way he looked at me with those sad puppy eyes was more than this old man could take. Picking him back up we made our way to his new bed, mine. For some strange reason I got the feeling that he had played that trick before, what's the difference, I wouldn't have had it no other way. He turned two this past October and he's not too much bigger than when I got him. I have become so attached to him now. Since I'm by myself I talk to him just like he's a person. If I'm not mistaken , I read that they can learn around 250 words. I have become so fascinated with him, in how he knows what I'm talking about. Whoever coined the phrase A dog is mans best friend sure hit it right. The love they possess I believe is without measure and is love in its most purest form. It's not deluded, it's not partial, it is of no respect of person, color or creed. Yes so strong that it's tangible even. I even tell him sometimes I wish I could love you as much as you love me. I can honestly say that I don't believe there's anyone that loves their pet more than I love him. I kid around with my mom in saying that he gets anything he wants, any time he wants for any reason he wants. I mean anything within reason of course. Now that I've told yall how good he has it, I have one problem. We have anxiety issues, me not him. Maybe some of you can help me with this. I can't stand the thought of leaving him alone for more than two hours. I know of some people leaving theirs all day. Our vet said to put him in his crate whenever I went off because they feel more secure instead of letting him have the run of the house. Which I guess makes sense. So, I'm open for advice from my friends. Ya know, even though we live in a crazy uncertain society. A time when friends may not always understand us and may even turn their back on us. Maybe even some family members may loose out with us because of some mistakes or misunderstanding. But I guarantee you this one thing, life will still be just as sweet as long as we have mans best friend waiting on us to come home. Knowing they're cherishing the moment they can show you just how much you mean to them, just for being you, and you along. Peace

Sorry your vet advised you to put your dog in a crate when you were out because you are anxious?
