Ok, I’ve just told my daughter.

Our beloved fluffy cat Claude was killed in the cul-de-sac on Tuesday.
My daughter chose him as a kitten at the charity where we got him, and has adored him since she was 4 years old. She came back for the weekend from university, and I had to wait until she was here to tell her because I knew she’d be devastated and didn’t want it to affect her studies.
He was a cat, but one with a ton of character and friendly to everyone.
Whoever hurt him was travelling at speed down the Close (10mph is more than enough down this little road), and they didn’t stop. I had to pick his broken and bleeding body up from the side of the road, rush him to the vet and then make the awful decision to have him put to sleep due to the extent of his injuries.
We know the motorist was driving at speed as the vet told us that he’d been hit extremely hard. He was very careful with the little traffic we have here, and would always run to the pavement if something was coming. It seems that he didn’t have the chance this time. Heartbroken.
Could have been a child.
