and its probably because that is not the way cats behave
but I prefer to imagine its because they are always avoiding the second arrow of unhappiness.

No. Cat's receive the first arrow, then do a ninja pounce immediately avoiding the second arrow. Then they make a cute noise and go on with their day like no problem. Maybe even clean themselves a bit and then take a nap on the roof ledge of a building.
They are a mature mammal with full control of their emotions always in the present moment, an inspiration to us all!
