Do you have a strong bond with your cat?

Petting them apparently releases oxytocin, a hormone that reduces stress, but my cat is so much more than that. She offers a sense of comfort and relieves loneliness.
Animals give us so much and it's a shame many are abused the way they are.
I love writing poetry and wrote this for her and the sad life she had before I found her.
I hope you like it.

She wandered long through alley rain,
With fur like thread and paws in pain.
Each night a scrap, each dawn a fight,
No hearth to warm, no end in sight.
Her ear was torn, hers whiskers bent,
Her days were spent in cold cement.
Yet in her eyes, a flicker stayed—
A hope that never quite decayed.
One autumn eve, a window wide,
A gentle hand, a place to hide.
Soft cushions, food, a quiet bed,
A name now whispered as she’s fed.
Now sunbeams dance upon her fur,
And purrs replace the midnight stir.
The old cat sleeps with dreams anew,
Of love that came, and stayed, and grew.

I don’t have a cat right now, but when I did we were tightly bonded. I loved him so much!
