maybe you can also tell me about how you dealt with the passing of a pet?

just wondering

I think I would be devastated

but I would not expect my next cat to live up to the standards of her predecessor

every cat has to find their own way in life and their own way of being

I had a lab mix for 18 years. He was with me almost all the time, such a good friend. He got cancer and was in lots of pain, even with the pain killers so I took him to my vet and laid on the floor with him until he stopped breathing. I said I'd never get another dog. That lasted until I visited a friend who was fostering the dog I have now. She had been in a puppy mill for 4 years, a terrible life. I took her home that day to give her a good life.
I was sad when I put the 14 year old dog down. Life has enough other stuff happening at the time
@Justafantasy and did you do any special goodbyes?
@OrionInTheNight took her with us a few places, she hadn't been out for many drives which she always seemed to enjoy even before getting injured. Have her some of her favorite foods that are "bad for dogs". And was in the room petting her when the vet put her down. I think that last part is the most important, you've been their entire life. The most important moment they need comfort in they're looking for you

My cat died on November 12, 2017, at the age of 15 and I'm still not over it.
