Browser the Cat was a fixture at a Texas library, but a councilman took exception to the cat being in a library. When asked why, he responded, “I’m a councilman. I can put anything I want on the agenda.”
His motion to evict the cat passed in a 2 to 1 vote.
Well. The mayor’s office received 1500 protest emails. The reaction was international.
The response occasioned a revote and Browser was reinstated with a new title bestowed by the Mayor. “Library Cat for Life.”
The councilman, however, lost his next reelection by a landslide.
