I guess I started something now

I love cats and have always had one up until the last couple of years since it’s just not in my budget. So a few months ago I noticed a calico cat in my backyard a couple of times . I bought a can of food for the next time I saw it.
I saw it in my backyard again and set some food out for it. It’s very feral and runs if I go near it.
This time it had two kittens with it- the looked to be several months old, so I am assuming the calico is the mother.
I put a can of food out today when I saw them in my yard and they ran to the fence but watched me put the food out and they took turns eating a few bites.
A few hours later I looked outside and saw 3 more kittens- same colors- a calico a few months old, and then two more kittens much smaller than the first 3.
Apparently it’s a cat running around the neighborhood and obviously not fixed.
It’s fun feeding them occasionally but I can’t feed a whole litter of random kittens every day.
I have started something for sure.

So I looked out in my backyard just now and there’s two grown cats, a baby, and a calico one that doesn’t look that old…. But it definitely looks pregnant now. <sigh>

@Mardrae They own you now

@carpediem yep, gotta agree with you on that one. The pregnant teenager will almost let me get close enough to pet her. I have a feeling she’ll have her kittens in my storage shed- I saw her going back there today.,

@Mardrae DO NOT PET HER. I know people do "they're so cute", etc. But I had a friend who fed stray cats. Actual cats not musicians. She wanted to get friendly. One day, she was scratched fairly severely. I met with her and ran her into the hospital because I didn't like what was happening to her arm. She thought it was nothing. Turns out the cat scratch fever isn't just a song by Ted Nugent.

@carpediem wow!!! I had no idea!!! What kind of symptoms are they?
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Mardrae Symptoms include a red bump on the skin, fatigue, and discomfort. Lymph nodes near the injury may swell. Also fever

@carpediem ugh. Hope your friend is okay now

@Mardrae She healed right up, but she's a nut. LOL
