So, I took my cat to the vet today

She needed her claws trimmed.

I told the vet I'm unable to do it myself bc the cat is too strong, stubborn and scared for me to handle. I was worried we'd have to sedate her, she's that opposed to mani/pedi.

I gotta admit I was a bit embarrased when Pantera behaved nicer than ever before 🤦‍♀️

In videos, I have seen vets put cats in a cozy blanket to calm them down.

You can try that too.

@SW-User I almost lost an arm trying that once.

@BarbossasHusband Sedatives it is.

You gotta do what you gotta do.

My vet used to have to sedate my dog to do his nails. He wouldn’t let anyone trim them when he was awake. Really expensive

The person doing the clipping must have been very confident and calm

Animals pick up on when we are unsure or unsteady… my older dog knows I get worked up trying to cut her nails, she runs from me as soon as the clippers are in my hands. She allows my husband to do it!

Your cat probably knew the nails were getting cut even if she tried any funny business with this person, and so she just allowed it to happen

@WaryWitchWandering maybe. I held the cat while vet trimmed, and we were both shaking tho 😅
I'm glad she did well regardless of the reason.

The Jack Russell is the same. Can't get near her nails, need a vet to have her nails trimmed. My Manchester Terrier was completely fine with it, but she oddly had anxiety issues.
