I am devastated. When I split up with my husband recently, I let him take Julius, as he was moving out to a farm. I was saddened, but I knew that he would have a better life out there than in the middle of town. Plus, he'd be with his father who he loved.
About a week or so ago, my ex sent me a text, telling me that Julius had an encounter with another unknown animal and his tail was injured. He wasn't sure whether he'd make it or not, then his last message was "RIP Julius". From that, I had thought that Julius was dead. My heart just sank.
Well, just a couple of days ago, I got a call from the animal shelter, as I was the contact on his installed chip. She was concerned that it was brought in by someone else. I explained the story of him being in my ex's care.
Well, that's when she told me that they had to remove his tail, but otherwise he's fine. He's in recovery now, most likely for another week or two. If I can't come pick him up and pay for his surgery, then they will give put him up for adoption. I can't see him with someone else, but I sure can't pay the $2000 for the surgery and after care that he is in now. I am heartbroken. 😞
So, I went ahead and set up a Go Fund Me page, and hopefully, I'll be able to get some help in bringing him home.
@Vivaci I don't know. I'm sure he couldn't afford the surgery as well. Maybe he just didn't want to hurt me by telling me the whole story? Who knows what's in his head at times.
Thats awful.. ive noticed that this is a common theme. All I can say is that things like that would never happen if the animal was with a loving owner.
We sold our lizards when I was young. Both of them got run over by cars. They said they escaped the cages but I feel like that's a bad excuse. Their child probably killed them or something.
