I Love Cats

Julius, the cat in the photo had a very proud moment the other day...he caught his first bird. In the house we lived in previously, he was an indoor cat, being that we had bad traffic near by and I didn't want to lose him. Now, that we live on a hill away from the busy section, we decided that he could spend some of his time outside.

He has a plate and small bowl on the counter that we have between the kitchen and living room. The plate is about 15 inches in diameter, and the bowl is about 4", and set off to the side a little so we can offer treats.

Well, he proudly brought the bird in while my husband was cooking dinner. He put the bird onto his plate, and the bird took off and slammed into the glass sliding door. Julius ran to grab it, brought it back to the counter and started to tear it apart, throwing feathers everywhere. Quickly, pots were covered. My husband tried to take the bird away, but couldn't get to it quick enough. Julius ran away with it, later bringing it to the counter to show that the bird was dead and that he was proud. My husband finally got a hold of it and threw it back into the lawn.

Julius just sat up and received his praise.

Kudos. My cat has been dining on grasshoppers for the past 3 days.

Despite what SOME (masked) people think, hunting and killing are actually very important to the psychological well being of many animals (not just cats).

@xixgun I understand that, but owners should watch their cats or keep them inside. 🐱I like cats AND the birds as well.🐦️ Cats are natural killers of birds.

No, they are predators of anything smaller than they.@Peaches

@xixgun 😎I have a B B gun...
xixgun · M
@Peaches I have a .45. I don't recommend shooting my cat.

@xixgun I'm sorry!🥺I didn't mean anything...I was drinking last night and shouldn't have been on line. Talking about cats made me think of my new neighbors who has 2 of them that keep trying to kill the birds I feed in my yard.🐦️ I like cats too, but not when they try to kill the birds.😩

@Peaches Other birds kill more birds than cats do every year. Eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, ravens, crows - all of them will eat a smaller bird if able.

@xixgun Oh yes I KNOW!? We saw a young Hawk swoop down on a mourning dove in our back yard. 😯We notice how the big birds are towards the smaller ones too.🐦️

@Peaches It’s food
Peaches · F
@xixgun Well I'll still try to do something if I can! I KNOW those cats do get plenty of food at home. I'm in my yard and like to feed the birds and hear them singing. Maybe I'll go in with her to pay for a fence.🤔😏

@Peaches Good fences make good neighbors.

@xixgun Haha!👌🏼☺️They sure can.
