About 29 percent of those bird deaths and 10 percent of those mammalian deaths could be attributed to house cats in particular, according to the study."

The other reason not to let cats run free.........i will trap them or shoot them. just to let you know I like cats but I like to preserve wildlife more. I do own a cat and it stays in the house at all times.

That you believe this study at face value, so much as to murder animals in cold blood is heinous in my opinion. Have you thought about what mammals that cats kill - mice and rats. Maybe you prefer the latter to run wild and propagate without a natural predator. As for birds, I doubt the study is legitimate, especially from the NT Times, which is a far Left propaganda rag.

@Carissimi The study was not by the NYT and there have been other studies done by several different state game and fish dept.s

As for rats and mice, most people with half a brain can figure out how to use a trap or pison to get rid of the varmints and there are a few different types of poisons that specifically are for vermin. I do not like the NYT and I am a Trump and 2nd Amendment supporter and hate liberals.

I am however a fan of keeping the bird population from being decimated, having diseases spread by cats and have trapped 27 feral cats in my backyard in the center of our town.

And killed them? Just because you are a Trump supporter does not excuse you from killing cats. Tell me something. What makes you different from a cat? You say that cats kill all these birds, and yet you kill cats. I don’t see any difference except the cat is doing what comes natural to it. It’s a born hunter, like big cats. You, on the other hand are killing cats deliberately. That’s murder in my book, and that you’d kill a domestic cat that is absolutely despicable. I don’t believe for one minute that cats kill that many birds. Birds have wings. Cats can’t fly. You will continue with your killing regardless of my opinion, but in my opinion, you are despicable. @acpguy
