I Love Cats

Finding My Miracle Coco Boo Kitty...
I quit smoking December 2, 1994. Little did I know it would change my life regarding pets. I grew up with 2 parrots, cats, dogs, cows, geese, ducks, chickens and pigs. Animals were a part of my life. All my life I have had a pet. As a child I had a pet cow (which I thought was magic) who was my best friend. My first husband and I had a boxer, shepard, and a wolf. We both loved them very much.
I became extremely allergic to animals when I quit smoking. I had a cat that was just given to me at the time and I had to find her a new home because my reaction to her was tremendous.
It was like a death to me. I missed having my pets and it was very lonely in my home. Everyone in my family called my house the Pet Cellar b/4, but now I could not abide any animal in my home.
About a year passed and I was taking a friend of mine home one evening. She said real loud that I had to stop real quick. She said there was beautiful cat running between the restaurants and she wanted to try and catch it. Well I stopped and she got out and caught the cat. The cat actually walked up to her and let her pick it up. When she got back in the car I told her to keep it close to her because I was very allergic to animals.
When we got to her house and got inside we could see she was a beautiful golden siamese with perfect markings. She had the most beautiful deep sky blue eyes and she was very loving. She was also very emaciated. You could see every one of her ribs extremely well. I immediately went out and brought canned cat food (about 35 cans) to feed her and thought no more of it.
But, every time I came to visit, CoCo would always end up on my lap. I was trying to help my friend study for school and kept falling asleep when the hour got late. Every time I woke up she would be sitting in my lap purring and nuzzling her face in my arm. I would jump up afraid that I would have an allergic reaction and fuss at CoCo, but she just purred even louder looking up at me. But, I did not get an allergic reaction that time nor any other time...strange as it seems.
Well my friend found out she could not keep her and she had to move. And, because we had found out I was not allergic to CoCo (for some reason?) it was agreed that I would keep CoCo until my friend was back on her feet. I said I would keep her for up to one year and if she did not come for her by then the cat would be considered mine. We agreed and CoCo came to stay with me.
Well know you what happened? My friend called me six months later and told me to keep her as my own because she just did not want the responsibility. That day I made an out loud promise to my Miracle pet that as long as I was on the Earth she would never have to worry about a home or food again. That was eleven years ago last Good Friday 2008.
I would never have had her had it not been for my friend. She caught CoCo Boo Kitty and brought her into my life. I have never been sorry about it ever.
This cat has made me get up and come back to the kitchen to close the refrigerator door. She lets me know when someone is in the hallway. She catches anything that flies or crawls. When I come home from work she is always at the door to greet me and she rolls all the way over and over like a puppy in the middle of the floor once I'm all the way in the house. She always uses her litter box. She likes scratching up cardboard boxes to bits and playing inside bags of all kinds. If there are handles to the bag she will wear the bag until you take it from around her head.
I love her to death. She makes my life a lot more fun. She is a miracle pet because she is the only animal I know I can have in my life with no bad reaction. I thank the powers that be for her and hopes she stays around for a long time.
Peace and Love to you all.

Your story brought tears to my eyes. Animals are such healers and I believe Co Co came into your life for that purpose. I lost my soul mate siamese kitty 6 years ago. I adopted another one though and his personality is completely different though I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for sharing your story.
